For some reason, one of the most highly recommended restaurants in Dresden is the cafe inside the VW factory. I ordered the W12 burger.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

The burger was more like meatloaf on a bun, but it was tasty. There will be no jokes about emissions here, because I am an adult.

Is that place worth a stop? Going to Dresden in late July but I heard it was shut down and I only have 2 days in town.

I didn’t do the tour because the timing didn’t work out and the food was just ok. The factory tour looks pretty interesting, but I think you’re right that it’s not running right now, so you won’t see any “action.”

You should really only be eating bratwurst while in Germany. Also, explaining why the food is named the way it is is the most German thing ever. Also, is a “meat dumpling” supposed to be a meatball?

Did they have VW ketchup and currywurst?

Depends on how you translate “Fleischklößchen”. Dumpling or meatball, you can find each word in dictionaries.

I’m betting the burgers I get from a place local to me is way better.

In my experience, Europeans don’t know how to do really good hamburgers.

I enjoyed schnitzel a few times in addition to various wursts.

You would be correct. The burger patty in this case was basically meatloaf and fell apart immediately.

No currywurst there, but almost everywhere else in Germany.

I had the worst hamburger ever when I was in Europe a while back. Everything about it was wrong. Wrong type of bread (too firm), dried out meat, cucumbers instead of pickles, bland tomato sauce instead of ketchup, the wrong kind of mustard...

Meatloaf on a bun can be good. But it has to be on a bigger bun with a bit of a crust. Then maybe throw in some BBQ sauce and onions... cheese, lettuce and tomato optional.

But meatloaf on a hamburger bun? Definitely not W12-worthy... unless it’s a commentary that the food/W12 car looks good in theory, but falls apart in practice... LOL.

If the burger had cost €45.00, causing people to say “that sure is expensive for just a burger” then that would represent the W12 and Phaeton pretty well.

Also, is there anywhere outside the US with good BBQ sauce?

Hear the “Rabbit” sandwich is pretty good, as well.
